Accommodation in Cambodia is plentiful, in major cities and in the provincial towns.
In both Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, the variety of accommodation is enormous and ranges from basic single room facilities, guesthouse style accommodation and mid-range hotels right up to 5-star luxury on a grand, international scale.
In the provincial capitals, the choice is more modest but still plentiful, with something to suit every budget.
Most budget accommodation is on a "walk in" basis and advanced bookings are only necessary for luxury hotels and mid-range accommodation.
Keep in mind though that accommodation gets more difficult to find as the day gets on and some travellers prefer to book in advance to avoid dissappointment and/or the midday heat.
You will find more detailed information in the sections on those cities.
As with accommodation, in Cambodia you can spend as little or as much as you want, depending on your tastes and budget.
In the major cities, there are a surprising number of excellent and stylish venues popular with the diplomatic corps and NGO staffers and most international cuisines are represented alongside excellent local cuisine
At the other end of the spectrum, there is a plethora of less expensive eateries serving excellent local food and the pancakes and pizzas so enjoyed by the budget traveler.
There are street vendors and markets everywhere where you can enjoy purchasing excellent local fruit and the ubiquitous baguette. Bakeries are popular, due to the French influence and the large expatriate community, so you can get all the delights you might miss from home from croissants to cake and fresh sandwiches.
