On the south coast of Cambodia, about 4 hours drive from Phnom Penh, you will find Sihanoukville. The town was formerly the holiday destination of wealthy Cambodians but is now regaining its popularity with the general population, mainly from Phnom Penh.
Sihanoukville offers a range of accommodation and tourist services, central to a handful of white sand beaches around the peninsular on which the town is located. It is fast reclaiming it’s reputation as a popular destination for Cambodians from the capital on weekends and has once again become Cambodia's premier beach resort.
Most people travel to Sihanoukville from Phnom Penh by private car or bus. Its a 4-hour journey on an excellent road. Buses leave from Ho Way Genting bus station (near the central market) at 7.15 am., 8.30 am., 12.30 pm. & 1.30 pm. and cost 14,000 Riel. The buses return from Sihanoukville at 7.10 am., 8.00 am., 12.15 pm. and 2.00 pm.
If you're travelling from Thailand overland, Sihanoukville can also be reached from Koh Kong by ferry and road (taxi).
