- 2 January - The Youth brigade assaults residents of Ruwa and Mabvuku
- 8 January - The Youth brigade seal off the towns of Bindura, Chinhoyi and Karoi, reportedly for a recruiting drive and to weed out members of the Movement for Democratic Change before the upcoming elections
