• Events of the futuristic racing game WipEout 2097 take place.

2099

• 2099 (MMXCIX) is a common year starting on Thursday of the Gregorian calendar.
• The BBC Radio 4 Sci-Fi Comedy Nebulous takes place in 2099.
• It is rumored that descendants of the MS-DOS operating system, among which includes various versions of Microsoft Windows, will not be able to handle dates beyond 2099, but they said this about 1999 and it never came to pass.
• The Marvel 2099 comic book universe is set in 2099. According to Marvel, people in 2099 will be debating whether the year 2100 is the last of the 21st century (which is commonly thought to be the correct view) or the first of the 22nd century (which will really be 2101 - unless one accepts the idea that the first year of the first century is really the year 1 BC, which would be year 0).
