Abuction: The Megumi Yokota Story is a 2006 American documentary about Megumi Yokota, a Japanese student who was abducted by a North Korean agent in 1977. The film made its world premiere at the 2006 Slamdance Film Festival and has won numerous awards.

A group of left-behind American parents protested at the August 2006 US premier in Los Angeles [1] claiming that Japan's concern over this issue is hypocritical due to the fact that Japan is the only G7 nation who has not signed the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction and that Japan will not extradite Japanese citizens who are formally wanted for arrest by other countries on charges of abduction.[2]
