Akkerman Oblast
Akkerman Oblast (Ukrainian: Акерманська область, Akermans’ka oblast’) (August 7, 1940—December 7, 1940) was an oblast in the Ukrainian SSR. It had a territory of 12.4 thousand km³.
The oblast was organized on August 7, 1940 on the territory of Budzhak taken by the Soviet Union from Romania. Four months later, on December 7, 1940 the oblast was renamed into Izmail Oblast, as the administrative center of the oblast was moved from Akkerman (since 1944 Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi) to Izmail.
