Atlas Maior
The Atlas Maior (or Atlas Novus, as it was originally called) is comprehensive world atlas, conceived by Willem Blaeu but compiled by his son Joan Blaeu, completed in 1665. The original work consisted of eleven volumes, in Latin, containing 594 maps.
A modern reproduction, containing nearly 800 pages, weighing 7.0 kilogrammes, and retailing for $200 USD, is published by Taschen. The replica was created from the copy currently housed in the National Library of Vienna.
