Its coverage includes a combination of both mainstream and more obscure horror titles, both domestic and international. It also features original horror genre features such as Horror's Hallowed Grounds (visits to filming locations of horror movies), Cold Spots (reports on haunted locations in North America by horror author Scott A. Johnson) and Ghoulish Guidance (a tongue-in-cheek advice column for the undead by Kyra Schon, child star from Night Of The Living Dead), as well as reporting on attendance at horror conventions throughout North America.

History
Dread Central was created by Josh Siebalt (Pen name Johnny Butane) and Ryan Turek (Pen name Ryan Rotten) in 2004, when they left the website Creature Corner to strike out on their own. At the end of 2004, they loaned the name "Dread Central" to The Horror Channel online and positioned it as an online magazine along the same vein as Entertainment Tonight, but for the Horror Genre.
Ryan Turek left the site at beginning of 2006 to join Fangoria magazine as a print journalist.
On June 17, 2006, the editors and writers of The Horror Channel online left that site en masse to focus on re-launching Dread Central as an online magazine devoted to the Horror genre. Multiple forum postings and weblogs reported on the reasons behind the separation.[1] DreadCentral.com website was re-launched on July 4, 2006. The url was owned by Josh Siebalt since 2004 but was redirected elsewhere until the separation.
Forums
Dread Central contains a large and active "forum" section containing several hundred consistent internet posters. Titles of main sections of the forums are word-play on "horror themes" such as "The Shiver Shacks", "Best-cellars" and "Timeless Tinglers".
Partnerships
Dread Central recently partnered with SOTA Toys to have its logo featured on the packaging for SOTA Toys' Now Playing Series.
