Chlef

Chlef (Arabic: الشلف) is the capital of Chlef Province, Algeria. It is home to the soccer club ASO Chlef.
The province of Chlef is located in the north of Algeria, 200km west of the capital Algiers. The province was named Orliensville during the French occupation, Al-Asnam, which translates to the sculptures, after the Algerian independence in 1962, then Chlef, derived from the name of the longest river in Algeria.
