Delirious is an early stand-up comedy special for Eddie Murphy. The 70 minute show, released in 1983, showcases his most racy material. It was a big success and he had a follow up performance with RAW, which became even bigger than Delirious. It was filmed at Constitution Hall in Washington D.C..
Highlights from this concert were released as a comedy album entitled Comedian.
In this 70 minute standup the word "fuck" is used a total of 230 times.
Home Video Release
Despite its popularity with his fans and critics, Eddie Murphy has long blocked releasing the film in the US on home video or DVD (though the special has been release in the UK on VHS). Murphy's motive for blocking the release in the US stems from the fact that his stand-up routine in "Delirious" contains some of Murphy's most controversial material, which garnered much controversy for Murphy and his career as he has moved away from edgier material in favor of more family friendly material. As such, the concert has been the subject of much bootlegging.
However it has recently been announced that the concert will finally be released for the first time ever on DVD by Anchor Bay Entertainment in the United States and Canada on February 6, 2007.
