Lincoln Cliff
The Lincoln Cliff is the portion of a major escarpment that runs north-south through Lindsey and Kesteven, in central Lincolnshire and is a prominent landscape feature in a generally flat portion of the county. The important Roman road, Ermine Street follows the line of this escarpment.
South of Lincoln the villages that lie high up on the escarpment (Bracebridge Heath, Waddington, Harmston, Coleby, etc.) are known collectively as the 'cliff villages'. Here, the upland above the Cliff is broader and known as the Lincoln Heath.
