Raine Maida was born Michael Anthony Maida on February 18, 1970 in Weston, Ontario. He is the front man of the Canadian rock band Our Lady Peace. He changed his name to Raine in order to avoid confusion with Mike Turner, the band's former guitarist.

Maida has been co-producing music since 1999, when he co-produced Our Lady Peace's albums Happiness...Is Not a Fish That You Can Catch and Spiritual Machines. In 2004, he also co-wrote and produced five tracks on Avril Lavigne's sophomore album Under My Skin.

Maida and his wife Chantal Kreviazuk contributed to Kelly Clarkson's song "Where Is Your Heart?", which Kreviazuk actually helped write. Maida and Kreviazuk also helped write "Walk Away", another song on Clarkson's album, Breakaway.

Maida and his wife also contributed to the The Veronicas first album The Secret Life Of...; they wrote and produced the song "Revolution".

Maida also had a small role in a Canadian movie released in 2001, Century Hotel. He interpreted a character named Damon Riley.

The two also helped to produce and contribute to Cheyenne Kimball's album The Day Has Come. They also wrote "Meant To Fly" for the winner of the 4th season of Canadian Idol, Eva Avila.

Maida released a 4 song EP called Love Hope Hero on November 14th, 2006. The EP contains the songs One Second Chance, Earthless, Sex Love and Honey, and Be Careful What You Wish For. Raine will be selling this EP at tours with his wife, on his website, and on iTunes.

Both Maida and Kreviazuk are strong advocates of the organization War Child. Maida produced a War Child Canada benefit album entitled Help: A Day in the Life. Maida and Kreviazuk both also co-hosted the 2006 MADD video.
