Telkom School of Engineering (STT Telkom) was established on September 28, 1990, by Telkom Education Foundation (YPT), a foundation owned by Telkom as the biggest state-owned telecommunication company in Indonesia. The campus is located on Dayeuhkolot, about 3 km from Bandung, West Java. The campus itself is about 480,000 m² wide.

STT Telkom, a private tertiary school, concentrates the program to support the development of telecommunication technologies and industries. The aim is to meet the needs of skilled professionals in the industry. It is also the first-ever university that specialized in telecommunication technologies in the country[1]. Telkom provides scholarship to all of 1991 and 1992 students and has guaranteed them job at PT Telkom Indonesia after finishing their study[2]. However, due to the changing of management policy, the scholarships for new students are no longer provided.

STT Telkom conducts courses for company staff development in order to enhance their proficiency. STT Telkom also had signed an agreement of partnership with ZTE, the largest telecommunications manufacturers and wireless providers in China. ZTE also had established a telecommunication research center in STT Telkom campus at 2005[3].

Towers

From Buah Batu freeway, the campus of STT Telkom is easily recognized because of 13,200 ft telecommunication towers surrounding it. The towers was formerly used by Indonesian soldiers for spreading information and propaganda via radio to all over Indonesia while they were still at war with Dutch colonialists. When Indonesia regained her freedom from Dutch colonialists in 1945, those towers were used for broadcasting the declaration of Indonesian independence[4] all over the world.

But several years ago, eleven of them were brought down for a technical reason.

Now, inside the campus of STT Telkom stands two remaining towers painted red and white, presenting the national flag.
