Yevgeny Tolstikov
Yevgeny Ivanovich Tolstikov (Russian: Евгений Иванович Толстиков) (1913 - December, 1987) was a Soviet polar explorer, awarded by the Hero of the Soviet Union title. He led the Third Soviet Antarctic Expedition and one of the first manned drifting ice station in the Arctic. The asteroid 3357 bears his name.
In 1979, he was made deputy chairman of the State Committee for Hydrometeorolgy and Environmental Control.
